Home Health Aide

The Grace School of Allied Health and Professional Advancement is authorized by the New York State Department of Education to provide allied health programs to meet the growing need of the health industry.

The Grace School of Allied Health HOME HEALTH AIDE (HHA) program is designed to prepare the adult learner in the theory and skills required for practice as a home health aide in working effectively with home care clients such as the elderly, mentally retarded, the Physically Disabled and children. The focus is to equip the caregiver with the basic knowledge and skills needed to care for clients in a home setting. The program consists of 84 hours of classroom theory and 16 hours of Supervised Clinical Externship (SCE) determined and provided by the sponsoring (hiring) agency or provided by GSAHPA. Classroom and Skills Laboratory practice will be held at Grace School of Allied Health and Professional Advancement facility at varied times a year.

 

The classroom training consists of lectures, demonstration teaching and lab practical which are closely interrelated with practical in-home experience.

Core Training:
Day classes:
Theory & Skills
Monday to Friday, 9:00am – 4:00pm 6 hours/day for 14 days (3 weeks) classroom
SCE: will be arranged based on availability and student‘s schedule.

Evening Classes (currently unavailable):
Theory & Skills
Monday to Friday – 4:00pm – 8:00pm – 4 hours/day for 21 days (Five – six weeks)
SCE: will be arranged based on availability and student‘s schedule.

Weekend classes (call for details):
Theory & Skills
Saturday & Sunday – classroom – 9:00am – 4.00pm – 6 hours/day for 7 weekends
Saturday – classroom – 9:00am – 4.00pm – 6 hours/day for 14 Saturdays
Sunday – classroom – 9:00am – 4.00pm – 6 hours/day for 14 Sundays
SCE: will be arranged based on availability and student‘s schedule.

PCA TO HHA UPGRADE:
The PCA to HHA Upgrade consist of 27 hours of classroom theory and 16 hours of Supervised Clinical Externship (SCE) determined and provided by the sponsoring (hiring) agency or provided by the school.

Day classes:
Theory & Skills
Monday to Friday 9.00 – 4:00pm 6 hours/day for 5 days classroom
SCE: will be arranged based on availability and student‘s schedule.

Weekend classes (call for details):
Theory & Skills
Saturday & Sunday – classroom – 9:00am – 4.00pm – 6 hours/day for 2 -3 weekends
